If you want a voluptuous, toned butt and are considering a Brazilian butt lift, you may be wondering what the procedure is like. Like other body contouring procedures, a Brazilian butt lift can differ between patients depending on their desired look. At Farris Plastic Surgery, Dr. Zachary Farris can help create an individualized butt lift that matches your specific goals and unique body type.
A Brazilian butt lift is usually performed as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia. Generally, a Brazilian butt lift procedure has three phases:
- The extraction of fat from another part of the body
- The purification of those extracted fat cells
- The injection of purified fat cells into your buttocks
First, Dr. Zachary Farris harvests excess fat cells from a separate region of the body using liposuction. This fat can be taken from any part of the body where it isn’t wanted, such as the abdomen, thighs, or back. Next, he takes those fat cells and purifies them by separating the fat from other oils. Finally, Dr. Farris injects small amounts of the purified fat cells into different parts of the butt. By injecting the fat into strategic locations throughout the buttocks, Dr. Farris can increase the volume of your butt, fill in dimples, and give you results that look and feel natural. The entire procedure takes about two to three hours depending on the amount of fat being injected.
Immediately following the procedure, you may have some swelling and bruising near the injection sites. You will be given a compression garment to wear around your buttocks for the first two weeks, which will help control the swelling.
