  • Face
  • Lips

  • Neck
  • Hands
  • Around the eyes

Moreover, facial fillers in Dallas, TX, boast a minimal recovery time and typically only require light use of an ice pack to reduce swelling after the injections take place.

Available Types of Facial Fillers

There are several different categories of facial fillers in Dallas, TX, that we have available here at Farris Plastic Surgery. Each comes with its own set of unique specializations and benefits, and the lengths to which your results will last will depend on what filler is used.

Pro-Tip: Fillers can also be used in conjunction with Botox or Dysport for an added effect of rejuvenation!

What is Restylane?

Restylane® is composed of hyaluronic acid, which helps to soften the lines and wrinkles of the lower face. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance produced by the skin that keeps our skin soft and elastic. With increasing age, production of this substance declines, resulting in wrinkles and loss of volume.

Restylane temporarily replenishes the supply of hyaluronic acid in the targeted area, improving wrinkles and folds. This treatment typically lasts around nine months. Sites that are commonly treated include:

  • Nasolabial folds (laugh lines)
  • Marionette lines (vertical lines extending down from the corners of the mouth)
  • And small vertical lines above the upper lip and corners of the mouth

Restylane® Silk is also a hyaluronic acid filler but with smaller particles and explicitly designed to enhance the lips. If you feel like your lips are thin and would like more fullness, Restylane Silk can provide volume and achieve a natural-looking pout. Restylane® Silk can also help to correct perioral lines, and the results can last about six months.

Restylane® Lyft is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel designed to add fullness to the cheeks and midface. It is typically injected into deeper facial tissue, with results lasting about 12 months.

Restylane® Refyne is a specifically formulated hyaluronic acid dermal filler made with XpresHAn Technology™ that helps correct moderate facial wrinkles and folds, such as smile lines. Restylane® Defyne utilizes a similar technology and is used for wrinkles and folds that are slightly deeper. The unique cross-linking of these fillers is also designed to help support your natural expression—for real-life results that help maintain natural movement when you’re smiling, frowning, and even puckering up. For most patients, results often last about 12 months.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is another hyaluronic acid filler. What sets it apart is the smoother texture of the injected gel and patented cross-linking of molecules.

JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC injectable gel is for deep injection in the cheek area to correct age-related volume loss and to provide more cheek projection. Results last about 2 years.

JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC (larger particle size) injectable gels are used primarily for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC may also be used for lip augmentation. Results last about 1 year.

JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC injectable gel is used for correction of perioral lines (smoker’s lines) and lip augmentation with results lasting about 1 year.

JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC injectable gel also softens moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles but is slightly longer lasting – 18 months.

Radiesse is a filler comprised of calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres suspended in a gel. It provides an immediate volume effect once injected but also stimulates the body to produce collagen. Over time, the gel and microspheres are absorbed by the body, leaving behind your own natural collagen. Radiesse is used for moderate to severe facial wrinkles or folds, such as nasolabial folds. It’s also used to correct volume loss at the back of the hands. Results last about 1 year.

What is Sculptra?

Sculptra is an injectable that contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). It stimulates collagen production by providing a support structure for collagen to grow. Results appear gradually and patients typically require a series of 3 injections over the course of 3-4 months. Over time, the poly-L-lactic acid is metabolized by the body, leaving behind the naturally occurring collagen. Treatment areas include hollow areas of the cheek and temples, jawline, chin wrinkles, nasolabial folds and marionette lines. Results last about 2 years.

Treatment areas with Sculptra include the:

  • Hollow areas of the cheeks and temples
  • Jawline
  • Chin wrinkles
  • Nasolabial folds
  • And marionette lines

What a Typical Facial Filler Procedure Looks Like

Here at Farris Plastic Surgery, we strive to make the entire process as simple, streamlined, and stress-free as possible. Here’s a little bit about what it will look like:

Before

Once you’ve scheduled your initial consultation for facial fillers in Dallas, TX, you’ll speak directly with Dr. Farris about everything from your aesthetic concerns and goals to your history of previous procedures and fillers. You’ll also have your face and skin condition thoroughly examined to determine if and which facial filler will be suitable for you.

During

On the day of your procedure, you’ll show up at our office, and the treatment will be over before you know it. It begins by applying a topical numbing cream or local anesthetic. Then, once the numbing agents have taken full effect, the injections will be handled with delicate and expert care—then you’re all done!

After (Recovery)

Once the desired results have been achieved, Dr. Farris will wrap up the treatment, and you’ll be able to return to your regular day-to-day routines. Best of all, you’ll see the results right away, and their full effects will be visible in just a few short days. Recovery is typically fast, with any redness and swelling that occurs clearing up soon after or within a few days.

However, in the few days following your facial filler treatment, you’ll want to:

  • Avoid excessive movement or exercise, allowing your body the time to let the filler settle
  • Minimize face-touching to avoid facial irritation and oil build-up
  • Try sleeping on your back to ensure the filler settles well

Risks Involved With Facial Fillers

As with any procedure or treatment, there are always certain risks involved. Though generally considered safe, it is not impossible to experience any of the following post-treatment:

  • Facial redness and swelling
  • Mild discomfort or soreness at injection sites
  • Rare cases of infection
  • Rare cases of allergic reactions
  • Little bumps at the injection sites
  • An asymmetrical settling of the filler

Dr. Farris will be sure to go over all the risks associated with the treatment before you make any final decisions on the treatment.
