A mommy makeover is a great way to reclaim your pre-baby body. Once you’ve finished breastfeeding, you may start to pay more attention to your appearance and realize that a regimen of exercise and diet has not been enough to give you the figure you want. Mommy makeovers combine multiple cosmetic procedures in one surgery session in order to enhance different areas of the body.
What Is a Mommy Makeover?
Rather than a single procedure, mommy makeovers involve a variety of procedures designed to restore your pre-pregnancy figure. Some of the most common procedures performed in a mommy makeover include:
-
- Breast enhancement: This may include a breast lift and/or breast augmentation. For most women after pregnancy, the breasts have lost volume and may be sagging. This happens because of the hormonal changes during pregnancy that stop after delivery and breastfeeding, leaving the breast tissue deflated. A breast lift pulls the skin up so the breasts have a higher position. For many women, a breast lift is not enough to regain the size and shape of their breasts. In this case, breast implants may be recommended to increase the fullness of the post-pregnancy breasts.
- Tummy tuck: This procedure makes the stomach muscles firm and removes loose skin and some excess fat. Depending on the condition of your skin and muscles, you may only require a mini tummy tuck.
- Liposuction: In some cases, liposuction is used in conjunction with a tummy tuck. Liposuction can also be performed to eliminate stubborn fat from almost any part of the body, including the back, arms, thighs, and buttocks. It all depends on your unique goals. In some situations, patients elect use the fat extracted in a liposuction procedure to add volume and definition to other parts of the body, as in a Brazilian butt lift procedure.
- Brazilian butt lift: This procedure uses your body’s own fat, extracted through liposuction from another area of your body such as the abdomen or thighs, to add volume to your buttocks.
Is a Mommy Makeover Right for Me?
If you are done having children, schedule a consultation at the office of Zachary Farris, MD to learn more about how a mommy makeover can benefit you. Some women prefer to spend some time doing their best to improve their appearance through diet and exercise. However, these alone may not produce the results you want, especially in the breasts and abdomen, where the skin has been stretched.
You may be a good candidate for a mommy makeover if your pregnancy has changed the size and/or shape of your breasts, if your abdomen sags and has excess fat and if diet and exercise have not sufficiently removed the fat from stubborn areas. Of course, the best way to determine if you qualify for a mommy makeover is to schedule an appointment at our office in Dallas.
